The Circle of Life

bigstock-Spirograph-rainbow-background-35198489It’s interesting how life is a circle.  We don’t end up in the same place we started, but everything is cyclical. Just the saying, what goes around comes around, and in this case around and around again, speaks volumes.

The circle is a universal symbol for so many things. It’s the symbol for a wedding band, that never-ending circle of love that can’t be broken. The circle defines the earth and the sun and how they orbit each other.  The circle can be a metaphor for the life cycle, we are born and are raised by our parents, become parents, take care of our parents while raising our kids and then our children take care of us and the circle continues. And, the circle is also the shape of a cookie.

If my circle of life were to be drawn out, it would look like one of those spirographs that has many circles inside of circles inside of circles and so on, with no ending or beginning, just constant flows up and down the curves.

The thing about a circle is that it’s not easy to switch directions once you get going. The sides are smooth and arced, which means there isn’t much grip, so you have to have strength and character and will to change your direction.

Sometimes when you are on your circle you pass by others who seem to be on the same circular path as you, but the truth is, they are on the other side of the circle from you.  You hope you will meet them in the middle up on the top, but you never know for sure if that will happen or not. Life can often get in the way and anything can happen to prevent that meeting.

And, then there are those on your circle that you meet over and over. You pass by them often and each time you pass them they are an old friend welcoming you with warmth and a smile. It’s like coming home. Those are the people who are in your inner circle, and you never lose them.

I often feel as if my outer circle wants to make it to my inner circle. I even wonder how I ended up meeting back up with the outermost corners of that circle of life.  And then I realize that there is a reason why they are in the corner when a corner doesn’t exist in a circle.

You can’t fit a square peg into a circular hole. No matter how hard you try it just won’t fit. It didn’t fit then and it won’t fit now.

I completely understand this. There are so many people in my life that I keep at the outer edges, even family members. Simply because their toxicity is not something I need in mine. TD Jakes talks about people coming to him for prayer and asking for his anointing. He laughed and said so I go through hell and losing my house and living in a home with no water and no electric. Thrown out of churches, lied on , preached against, ostracized and harassed to get to this level and you think you should get it because I touched you?? The devil is a liar. So he starts praying for them to go through hell and back and earn that anointing.. when you get blessed there are just some people you don’t need to take with you. Period.
