Les Must de Cartier

IMG_0958Since selling my jewelry my idea of what I like and want has changed dramatically.  I don’t know if the reason is because everything I now adorn myself with comes out of my own pocket, or just because everything I adorn myself with now has a new meaning.

Jewelry before becoming the single and independent diamond gal was all about status. I grew up with a mother who has beautiful jewels and I always expected that I would have them as well. And, I have had them. Of course, I have also sold them all. And, in all honesty, some of them I miss, but most of them, looking back on the sparkle and shine was more of a false feeling of contentment and grandeur, than one of pride and love.

I am surrounded by beautiful jewels everyday. Gorgeous diamonds of all shapes and sizes wrapped gently and neatly in white and light blue packets, lustrous strands of pearls and stunning gemstones for the ears, wrists and throat.  Everywhere you look there is a Rolex watch and the gold and platinum shines so brightly you almost need sunglasses.  This has deepened my appreciation for jewelry and the beauty it brings, but not necessarily my need to own it.

The Wish List

This doesn’t mean I don’t have a wish list, because I am, after all, a girl. I do have one; it’s just more meaningful, because as I get what I want on it, it’s more of a rite of passage and greater independence than a gift that is being handed to me for just being the pretty hood ornament that I have been in my life.

The first thing on my list was the Trinity Tri-Colored Ring by Cartier. I love this ring for my right hand.

Why I Want Trinity

IMG_0951The three intertwined rings that are yellow, white and rose gold represent my two children and me.  We have been through so much together, and yet here we all are, standing tall and as a family; still under the same roof that I have somehow managed to keep over their heads.

Those rings also stand for enduring friendship, loyalty and true love.  These are all things that I have to learn to give myself over the past year.  You see, each thing that I do for myself has meaning because I am doing it for myself for the first time ever.

How I Got Trinity

Working at Jonathan’s Fine Jewelers has its perks. I had been looking for a Cartier Trinity ring for a while, scouring eBay and couldn’t find one in my size or that was in very good shape or the right price.  But, lucky for me that Jonathan’s buys plenty of Cartier, so when the perfect Trinity ring came in at the perfect price, I got to snatch it up just for myself.

I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me feel better than getting something that I have longed for and getting a great deal in the bargain.

What’s on your wish list?  What have you given yourself lately?

I love the Trinity ring, both for the symbolism and the beauty.

Anything has more value when there is a story and a meaning behind it. Jewelry is like that too. You made me think about the pearls, gold, diamonds and a few rubies that I have locked up in a safety deposit box from my first marriage. I don’t wear them anymore because they were from “him.” I should get them out and have them made into something that means something to me. A new meaning. A meaning moving forward.

Stopping in from GenFab. So nice to meet you.

Barbara, you should! OR you should sell those things locked away and buy yourself something that you have always wanted that has meaning to you that is from you! That is what I have basically done and it feels wonderful!!

So nice to meet you too!

I adore the Trinity ring – such simple beauty. I must admit I’m a big fan of sparkle and shine – I love diamonds! For my 50th last year my husband bought me a beautiful ring that is big and glittery, and I wear it with such enjoyment. When my grandmother passed away in October, I was the recipient of her green Tiger’s Eye ring, which makes me feel connected to her every time I wear it.

Ohhh, Sharon, wear it in very good health! I love diamonds too, but have found that now I am into Black and Champagne colored diamonds. Maybe because I can afford those!!

Pretty, shiny things! My kids finally left the “pull all the jewelry off mommy” stage, so I’ve been more open to jewelry lately.
